CHRISTIANA GILJE BORN IN NORWAY

She Was Laid to Rest in Mt. Olive Cemetery Thursday Afternoon

Miss Christiana Gilje, whose parents were Ostein and Haldris Gilje, was born at Bremness, in the parish of Finaas, Norway, June 7, 1863, and died at Story City Monday, March 13, 1933. She was thus at her death almost 70 years old.

She was baptized and confirmed and grew to womanhood in the parish in which she was born. In the year 1887, at the age of 24 years, she came to America and for a short time made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Sevold of Randall.

Most of her time in this country she spent in Chicago where she was engaged in child-nursing among the wealthy people of that city, a work she was well qualified for.

The last two years her health failed her and during this period of failing health she made her home with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Sam Christenson, in Story City. At this home she enjoyed friendship and good care to the last.

Only one sister, Mrs. Gurina Nelson of Jewell, is left to mourn her departure. Her six brothers have preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted from the Bethel church, Story City on Thursday, March 16, where Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiated and where the choir of the church rendered an appropriate selection. Interment was made in the Mt. Olive cemetery, Randall. The pallbearers were Ben Borwick, Ole Sevold, Henry Sevold, Martin Sevold, Henry Olson, Rasmus Thorsheim.
