OBITUARY
MRS. EMMETT OLSON

Frances Elaine Olson, daughter of David and Bertha Hanson, was born March 21, 1922 on a farm near Stratford, Iowa and died at 2:00 a. m. Friday, No. 22, 1963 at the Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames at the ate of 41 years, 8 months and 1 day.

She received her education in a rural Hamilton County School and graduated from Story City High School. After graduation, she attended a summer course at the State Teacher's College, Cedar Falls, Iowa and taught school for several years.

She was united in marriage, July 18, 1942 to Sgt. Emmett A. Olson at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Columbia, South Carolina, where for 3 1/2 years he was stationed at the Columbia Army Air Base. After WWII, Mr. and Mrs. Olson lived on a farm southwest of Jewell where they resided until her death. Mrs. Olson had been employed as a bookkeeper at the Baldus Hatchery, Story City, Iowa the past 3 yrs.

Surviving are her husband, Emmett; one son, Eugen, 20, a Junior at the State University of Iowa, Iowa City; one daughter, Lois, age 14, living at home; mother, Mrs. David Hanson of Roland; one brother, Donald Hanson also of Roland; six sister: Blanche (Mrs. Leslie Johnson) of Stanhope; Bernice (Mrs. Clarence Hove) of Jewell; Gladys (Mrs. Walter Williams) of Jewell; Betty Jane (Mrs. Emery Tegland) of Ellsworth; Irene (Mrs. Ralph Alvestad) of Gladbrook, and Ila Mae (Mrs. Glen Barrington) of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Olson was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. Hans Oppedal and had been an active member serving in many capacities. In church and community affairs. She was a faithful Sunday School and Bible School Teacher for many years and will always be remembered as a kind and devoted Christian wife and mother. Elaine will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and friends.

A family prayer service was held Sunday, November 24, at 3 p.m. at the Larson Funeral Home, Story City. The Rev. Enoch Hall was in charge. Vocal duets were rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Johnson, Stanhope and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Sansgaard, Story City, accompanied by Joel Jacobson at the organ.

Monday, November 25, funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church, northwest of Story City at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating. Brief talks were given by the Reverends Jacob Enderson, Whalen, Minn.; Walter E. Carlson, Carpenter, Iowa and T. J. Alvestad, Story City. Music was furnished by Theodore Quam and Mrs. Benjamin Anderson, both of Story City. Mrs. Harry Harman, Jewell, was organist. Pallbearers were brothers-in-law of the deceased, Ralph Alvestad, Gladbrook; Emery Tegland, Ellsworth; Clarence Hove, Jewell; Glen Barrington, Muscatine; Walter Williams, Jewell and Leslie Johnson of Stanhope. Burial was at St. Paul's Cemetery.
