John B. Johnson

John B. Johnson, for many years a resident of Ellsworth, passed away at the Hamilton county home near Webster City Thursday [July 14, 1932], following a short illness. Mr. Johnson would have been 89 years old on the day of his funeral.

He had been ailing but a few days, had been up and ate his supper Thursday night, and death came more or less unexpectedly about 11 o'clock, a rather sudden termination of a long life. Hardening of thee arteries was given as the cause of death.

John Benjamin Johnson was born in Norway July 16, 1843, and died on July 14, 1932, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 28 days.

He lived in Norway until 1891, when he came to America, arriving in Ellsworth on June 26 of that year. This continued to be his home until his death altho since the death of his wife he had been cared for in the county home.

He was married in Norway and had one son by his, first marriage. In 1885 he married Anna Johnson, who preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 1925. A daughter, Jemima, passed away Dec. 20, 1920.
