JOHN SOREN CAME TO AMERICA WHEN FIVE YEARS OLD

John Soren was born in Bergen, Norway, April 14, 1863. He came to this country with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ludvig Soren in 1868 at the age of five years, and settled near Randall, where he grew to manhood. He then lived at Webster City 20 years, and the last 19 years in Wright county.

On February 20, 1892, Mr. Soren was united in marriage to Anna Elizabeth Omvig, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chris C. Omvig of Story City.

He leaves to mourn his departure his three sons, Harry, Elmer and Clifford, all of Clarion; two sisters, Mrs. Sara Brue of Nevis, Minn., and Mrs. A. C. Molstre of Story City; and one brother, P. L. Soren of Pasadena, Cal.

Besides his wife, who passed away five years ago, he is preceded in death by two sons, Clarence, who died at the age of three and Clyde in infancy.

Mr. Soren had been in failing health for a little over a year and passed away June 16, 1932, at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 2 days.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at his home in Clarion and then at the St. Paul Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Hans Oppedal. This is the same church where Mr. Soren was married. Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Ketcham, Mrs. Harry LeBarr and Wm. Richards sang two selections at the home and Mrs. Ben Anderson and Theo. Quam sang two selections at the church. Interment was made in the St. Paul's cemetery.
