J. L. ONERHEIM REACHED AGE OF 98 YEARS

Obituary of Well known Story City and Ellsworth Man

Jens L. Onerheim passed away Wednesday, March 2, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Henderson, south of Ellsworth, following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, March 5, at the home and at Trinity church, conducted by Rev. T. T. Heimarck of Story City and REv. C. J. Naglestad. Rev. L. O. Onerheim, in behalf of the children, expressed thanks for a kind, loving father and for his guidance thruout their lives.

Burial was made in Homewood cemetery.

Those present from out of town were Mrs. Lewis Ritland, Willie Myrland and Andrew Bergland of Roland, Gratia Onerheim of Huxley and a number of friends from Story City.

Jens Larson Onerheim was born in Norway April 4, 1847. Here he lived till he grew to manhood. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Bertha Jorgenson. After their marriage they came to America and lived at DeWitt, Clinton county, Iowa. Here they lived for a year and a half, after which they moved to Illinois and from there they moved to Kirkman, Iowa, where they lived thirteen years. They moved to Ellsworth in 1896 where he has lived the remainder of his life with the exception of a few intervals.

To this union eleven children were born, all of whom are living, except George, who died in infancy.

The children who mourn the loss of their father are: Rev. L. O. Onerheim of Madison, Minn.; Mrs. Anna Schwarzenbach of Mt. Vernon, S.D.; Mrs. Mathilda Johnson of Villisca; Mrs. Regena Mjones and B. J. Larson of Gerled; Geo. Larson of Polk, Neb.; Oscar Larson of Radcliffe; and Julia Onerheim, Mrs. Willie Henderson and Burney Larson of Ellsworth. All of the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Schwarzenbach. He also leaves to mourn 35 grand children and two greatgrandchildren.

His wife died April 23, 1914. On March 16, 1922, Mr. Onerheim was united in marriage to Mrs. Hattie Lewison of Story City, where they lived until 1930 when Mrs. Onerheim died. Since her death he has lived with his son, Oscar Larson, until six weeks ago when he was moved to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willie Henderson.
