O B I T U A R Y
MRS. ANNA HILL

Mrs. Anna Hill, daughter of Jacob and Anna Serby Hoverstein, was born April 6, 1848, on Rennes Island, near Stavanger, Norway. She passed away Dec. 21, 1931, at the Joe Dahl Home at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 15 days.

She emigrated to America in 1871--60 years ago--and came to LaSalle county, Ill. She came to Hamilton county, Iowa, in 1896. Part of this time she lived in the town of Ellsworth, including the last six years that her husband lived, which time he was an invalid. She continued to live in town for several years after that. Only a short time after her husband's death she became an invalid herself, due to inflammatory rheumatism with complications. While she lived in town she was tenderly cared for by her youngest daughter, Cora. Since the marriage of this daughter she has made her home with her children, staying for a considerable period of time in each home, where she enjoyed the cheerful and kind care of her children and children-in-law, whose loving and untiring solicitude she often commented upon.

The deceased was united in marriage to Andrew Hill in 1874. They were blessed with eight children. The surviving children who mourn the passing of this dear mother are: Morgan Hill of Stanhope, Mrs. J. P. Dahl, Jesse and Albert Hill of Ellsworth, Mrs. N. P. Larson and Mrs. F. L. Peterson of Story City, and Mrs. O. A. Thompson of Thornton.

One son, Oscar Hill, died Dec. 21, 1922. Her husband passed away Aug. 27, 1917. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Kjistine Monson of Story City, and a brother John Hoverstein of Stavanger, Norway. Also 26 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hill was an esteemed member of the community and a loved and valued member of Trinity Lutheran church. She was a very sociable disposition and enjoyed the fellowship of a large circle of friends. She prized highly the comfort derived by the visits of old neighbors and friends. And to all who cheered her with their visits during the 14 years she was a shut-in she was sincerely grateful.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon at Trinity church at 1:30 o'clock, following a service at the Dahl home. Rev. Carl J. Naglestad, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Amanda Hanson, Mabelle Twedt, L. E. Williams and E. R. Isvik. Mrs. E. B. Tyler sang a solo at the home and Mrs. Leonard Lindebak sang at the church.

Interment was made in Homewood cemetery, with six grandsons of Mrs. Hill acting as pallbearers. They were Arlen Dahl, Alvern, Dwyane, Delmar and Idris Hill and Ardis Peterson.
