MRS. I. O. OPPEDAL DIED LAST THURSDAY

Mrs. Isaac O. Oppedal, well known resident of Clear Lake township, Hamilton county, passed away at 6:40 o'clock Thursday morning, Dec. 10th, at her home southwest of Jewell. Mrs. Oppedal had been bothered with cancer for several years and some years ago had operations at Rochester, Minn., and hoped that she was cured from the malady, but for the last year or two she has been in poor health and for the last 11 weeks she has been bedfast.

Funeral service was conducted by Rev. A. J. Torgerson of Northwood, her present pastor, and interment was made in the Lake Center cemetery.

Barbara Rigine Iverson, daughter of Einer and Sigrid Iverson, was born in Clear Lake township October 25, 1878, and lived in that community all of her life. She was confirmed in the Lake Center Lutheran church, having been baptized as a child by Rev. Takle in the Skaalure schoolhouse. She has been until her death a faithful member of the Bethany Lutheran church east of Randall. At the time of her death she was 53 years, 1 month and 15 days old.

On June 12th, 1915, she was married at Callender, Iowa, to Isaac O. Oppedal. Three children were born to this union: Donald, Margaret and Einar, all living at home. She is survived by her three children; her mother; step-father, Ole Brudos; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Hove of Bricelyn, Minn., Mrs. Rasmus Iverson of Scarville and Mabel Brudos; and five brothers, Eilert Iverson of Reeder, N. D.; Iver E. Iverson, John Iverson, Ed Iverson and Lawrence Brudos, all of Stanhope, besides many other relatives. Her father, one brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

The pallbearers were her nephews: Lacey Oppedal, Gilbert Oppedal, Palmer Hove, Vernal Satre, Melvin Iverson and Iler Iverson.

Mrs. Oppedal will be remembered as a good mother and good neighbor and true Christian.

To make this funeral especially sad may be mentioned that Mr. Oppedal, on account of temporary treatment at the hospital in Cherokee, was unable to be at the funeral. In passing it was noticed by all the manly attitude the young man Donald took. He feels the responsibility, being the oldest, and we bespeak for him and wish him the best. He is, though, only 16 years old, made the head of the family. May God five special care for the fatherless and motherless. L.J.T.
