OBITUARY OF OLD PIONEER WOMAN

Mrs. H. H. Thompson, Resident Here for Many Years, Laid to Rest at Elmore, Minn.

Funeral services of the late Mrs. H. H. Thompson was held at the Shiloh Lutheran church in Elmore Sunday afternoon, May 17th, Rev. S. Gjerde preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was made in Elmore cemetery.

Six grand children acted as pallbearers and they are as follows: Heron and Earl Thompson, Mikel and Hazer Hall and Horris and Abner Thompson.

Anna Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Beroen, was born at Beroen, Norway, March 30, 1850, and died May 13, 1931, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Osmund Mortvedt of near Blue Earth, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 13 days.

When a young girl the deceased came to America with her parents in the year 1857 when parents in the year 1857 when they located at LaSalle county, Ill. The following year the family moved to Iowa. The journey was made by oxen, it taking six weeks to reach their destination near Story City. The deceased was confirmed by Rev. Nels Amlund in the St. Petri church, which was located on her father's farm, one mile east of Story City.

On July 14, 1872, the deceased was united in marriage to H. H. Thompson. To this union eleven children were born, two dying in infancy; Hannah who died at the age of 22 and Joseph, a son, a soldier in the World war who died in action in the Argonne. The seven surviving children are Mrs. Andrew Madson, Mrs. Osmund Mortvedt, Henry Thompson and Erick Thompson, all of Blue Earth; Lars Thompson of Hendricks, Minn.; Mrs. Sam Hall of Clear Lake, Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Kathrine Amlund of Story City, Iowa, who was unable to attend the funeral on account of illness. There are also 23 grandchildren.

After their marriage they settled on a farm north of Randall, Iowa, where they lived until 1913. In 1913 they moved to Elmore where the deceased resided until Mr. Thompson died on June 24, 1927. Since then she has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Osmund Mortvedt and family.

Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Amlund, Mrs. Lewis Mathre, Mrs. O. Townswick, and Henry Beroen, all of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Halsne, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Hall, Marion Hall, Mrs. Bert Myer and Ruth, all of Clear Lake.
