Obituary of Hans Thorson

Hans Olei Thorson was born in Sogn, Norway June 14, 1872, and died May 5, 1931, in Denver, Colo., at the age o 57 years, 10 months and 21 days. In March, 1890, Hans came to Stanhope where he made his home, and in the last years he and his friend, Albert Olson, have spent considerable time in California. Mr. Thorson is survived by three sisters and one brother in Norway and one sister, Mrs. I. B. Iverson of Stanhope, besides a host of friends and other relatives. His sudden death was due to a fractured skull which he suffered when he was struck by a deliver truck in Denver.

Those acting as pallbearers were Albert Olson, Eli Olson, George Oppedal, Tana Satre, Albert Anderson and Iver E. Iverson.

Besides his friends from this community who attended the funeral there were many from Randall, Ellsworth, Jewell, Stratford, Des Moines and Eagle Grove. The funeral services were held Monday, May 11 at the Lutheran church at Stanhope conducted by Rev. H. O. Oppedal. Interment made in Lake Center cemetery.

Also we thank for the memorial contribution, the beautiful floral offerings, the decorating of the church, and the Lake Center octet for rendering such appropriate and beautiful songs.
