Death of Former Hamilton County Man

Ed Normandin for more than a third of a century a well known and highly esteemed citizen of Hamilton county, died Friday, Sept. 19, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. M. Rosenberg at Galesburg, Ill., with whom he had been making his home recently, his death resulting from obstruction of the bowels.

The body was brought to his old home at Ellsworth where the funeral was held Sunday afternoon, Sept. 21, at two o'clock at the Union church. Interment was at Homewood cemetery. Rev. C. F. Schmidt, Christian church pastor at Stanhope, officiated. Those who served as pall bearers were Chas. Blair, Will Blair, Charles Caruth, Harvey Caruth, A. Reynolds and H. K. Severson.

George Edward Normandin, son of Peter and Mateilda Normandin, was born at Fair Haven, Vt., Sept. 9, 1850, and died at Galesburg, Ill., Sept. 19, 1930, aged 80 years and 10 days. He was a resident of Ellsworth for 36 years and in recent years has stayed part of the time in Jewell and part of his time at Stanhope, Illinois and Minnesota. He was the oldest of eight children, of which two sister and two brothers survive.

Mr. Normandin's wife passed away in 1918. He is survived by 10 children, 16 grand children and 5 great grand children. The children are Robert E. of Waterloo, Milton of Colfax, Mrs. Matie Rosenberg of Galesburg, Ill., Mrs. Lottie Thompson of Bell, Calif., Mrs. Ida Johnston of Ventura, Calif., Mrs. Grace Ward of Clear Lake, Mrs. Ruth Newport of Perry, Mrs. Blanche Ervin of Stanhope, Mrs. Edna Jones of Morris, Ill., Mrs. Ethel Langert of Minneapolis. All of his children were at his bedside at his passing except the two daughters living in California.
