Obituary of Mrs. L. L. Thompson

Mrs. L. L Thompson (nee Carrie Tegland) was born in Norway, April 7, 1858, and passed from this life at her home in Story City July 20, 1930, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 13 days.

When a child of twelve years Mrs. Thompson came to this country and settled in Illinois, where she lived for a number of years before moving to Iowa.

On May 11, 1878, she was united in marriage to L. L. Thompson, with whom she lived happily until her husband's death, eleven years ago. Twelve children were born, ten of whom are living at the present time. The oldest boy, Oscar, died at the age of fifteen years, and Arthur while still in his infancy.

The surviving children are as follows: Eddie, Bert, Louella and Clarence Thompson, all of Story City; Levi S. Thompson of Radcliffe; Martin Thompson of Armstrong, Mrs. Andrew Hove of Frost, Minn.; Arthur Thompson of Des Moines; Mrs. Hobart Wimmer of Des Moines; and Lewis Thompson of Jewell. All the children are married with the exception of Eddie, Clarence and Louella, the latter having cared for mother during her long siege of illness.

Besides her ten children Mrs. Thompson is survived by twenty-eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Thompson was a devoted Christian and has always worked for the better things of this life. Her influence and good work should be an example for all those who remain. Her greatest ambition and desire was to raise and educate her children to be true and honest Christians. She will be sadly missed by her immediate family and all those who had the fortune to know her.
