M. M. TEIGLAND BURIED SATURDAY

Martin M. Teigland, whose parents were Mathias Hellesen Teigland and Siri Klausdatter Favnevig, was born at Teigland, near Mosterhavn, Norway, July 10, 1860, and died on his homestead two miles west of Randall, Iowa, July 9, 1930, lacking only one day of being 70 years old.

He was baptized in the old Moster church, the oldest church in Norway, it being built by King Olaf Trygvason in 997. He was confirmed in the same parish in 1875.

At the age of 16 years he became a sailor and continued in this work for seven years.

July 29, 1882, he was united in marriage to Anna Sorensdatter Skorpen. To this union 11 children were born, five boys and six girls. Two of these have preceded him in death, namely a boy 6 months old who died in 1897, and the youngest daughter, Mrs. Ruth Amenson, who died Jan. 1, 1924.

Mr. Teigland's first wife died very suddenly Dec. 27, 1922.

Nov. 25, 1925, Mr. Teigland was united in marriage to Miss Cora Kalsem of Ames, who survives him.

Besides his wife he also leaves to mourn his departure the following children: Mrs. Marie Okland of Rake, Mrs. Severine Borwick of Story City, Mrs. Sophia Gritten of Oklahoma City, Okla., Soren Teigland of Randall, Mrs. Hannah Okland of Jewell, Martin Teigland of Des Moines, Mrs. Stella Quam of Story City, Lucas Teigland of Albert Lea, Minn. and George Teigland of Randall. He also leaves 34 grandchildren, a brother, Johannes Teigland of Randall, and two sisters, Mrs. Vika of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Stensland of Kenyon, Minn.

Mr. Teigland and his wife came from Norway to America June 24, 1883, with Story City as their destination. In 1889 they settled on their farm two miles west of Randall, where they both lived until their death.

Mr. Teigland was a gifted man and because of this he held different offices in the county and in the church. He will be missed a great deal in the community and in the church, being a member of the Elim church at Randall for 38 years. But most of all will he be missed by his surviving wife and children.

The officers of the church donated $9.00 to the Home Mission Fund in memory of Mr. Teigland. Besides the floral tribute from Randall and vicinity there has been set aside a balance of $10.00 for the Home Mission Fund by his friends. His grandchildren also gave $10.00 to Missions.

Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at the home at 1:30 and at the Elim church at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud. Rev. Lester Pierson of Ames and Rev. Hans Oppedal of Lake Center both gave short talks. A duet was sund by Arthur Kalsem and Marie Kalsem of Marshalltown, and a duet by Truman Quam and Mrs. Benj. Anderson. The church was filled to capacity with relatives and friends to show their sympathy in this hour of sorrow. The pall bearers were four sons and two grandsons. Burial was made in the Mount Olive cemetery.
