OBITUARY OF M. T. WEST

Maynard T. West was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. West. He was born in Hamilton county, Iowa, near Jewell, March 7th, 1881; and died at Story City June 3rd, 1930, aged 49 years, 2 months and 26 days. He had been in failing health for some time and was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage a few days before his death.

He was married to Sena Oliva Sansgaard April 20, 1904. To this union four children were born, of whom two died in infancy, Julia Amanda and Amil James. His wife died May 11th of this year at the hospital in Webster city as a result of injuries sustained a few days previous. The tragic passing of the mother, followed so soon by the father's death, brings to the bereft family the most heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.

Mr. West is survived by two children, Truman and Alma, both of whom are at home, his invalid mother, Mrs. Thomas West of Story City; five sisters, Mrs. Dick Munson of Story City, Mrs. Goodman Olson of Jewell, Mrs. Martin Teig of Stanhope, Mrs. Severin Teig of Nerstrand, Minn.; and Miss Elsie West of Story City; and three brothers, Thomas T. West of Nerstrand, Minn., Henry West of Story City, and Joe West of Jewell. His father died six years ago and one sister, Mrs. A. G. Satre, died last September.

He was baptized and confirmed in the faith of the Norwegian Lutheran church. He was kind and loving husband and father, a good friend and neighbor, a leader in the community in which he lived all his life. He will be keenly missed and his passing will be deeply mourned by a wide circle of friends.

Funeral services were held at the home and at Bethesda Lutheran church in Jewell. The service was in charge of the pastor, Rev. Carl Opsahl, and Rev. Hans Oppedal, pastor of the St. Paul's Lutheran church.
