RANDALL RAYS

Obituary of Mrs. Olson

Mrs. Belle E. Olson, daughter of Knute and Marie Egland, was born near Randall, Iowa, Feb 3, 1869, and died at her home one and one-half miles northwest of Randall on May 15, 1930. She was at her death 61 years, 3 months and 12 days old.

Mrs. Olson had not been well the last two years, but no one thought it real serious until about two weeks ago, when she had to take to her bed. During those last weeks she suffered very mush and she became reconciled to the fact that her days were numbered.

She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Amlund in Story City. March 16, 1894, she was united in marriage to Martin Olson. To this union nine children were born, namely, Clarence Olson, who fell on a battlefield in France Oct. 30, 1918, Mrs. Myra Affholter of Lathrop, Mo., Mrs. Genora Larson of Kenyon, Minn., Archie Olson, Mrs. Grace Jacobson, Mrs. Beatrice Peterson, Floyd, Mylo and Clifford, all of Randall. She also leaves eight grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters and a host of friends.

Mrs. Olson was an active and home loving woman. She never pleased herself when it concerned the welfare of her dear ones. She had been for many years a member of the Elim Lutheran church at Randall, where she took active part, especially in the ladies aid work. In her departure the church and community have sustained a great loss, but those who will feel her departure the most are her husband and children. However, it is a great consolation that she has entered upon a great life above with her Savior, whom she loved and confessed her faith in to the last. in the midst of sorrow, then we can say: "Our loss is her gain."

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, May 17, at the home at 1:30, and at two o'clock at the Elim Lutheran church in Randall, conducted by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud, who sang two solos, one at the home and one at the service in the church. Two duets were sung by Mrs. P. G. Pederson and Mrs. Clarence Larson. Many sorrowing friends and relatives were in attendance at the last sad rites. Many beautiful flowers adorned the casket as expressions of deep sympathy in this hour of sorrow. The flower girls were Caroline Frette and Florence Rasmussen. The pallbearers were john Peterson, M. O. Johnson, Richard Larson, S. M. Teigland, P. J. Okland, and P. G. Pederson. Interment was made in the Mount Olive cemetery.

Mother's gentle hands are folded
Upon her loving breast;
Her feet have ascended the golden stairway,
And her cares are laid to rest.
No more the smiles will hover
O'er her sweet and loving face,
For she's smiling up in glory,
In that grand celestial place.
A golden crown enthrones her brow,
Beset with jewels rare,
Of those she loved and won for God
By deeds and trials she bare.
O, mother dear, we miss you so
Since you have left us here,
But we will strive to live the life
Of love and hope and cheer;
And meet again in that fair land,
Where herald angels bring
All joy and peace to broken hearts
And Christ our Lord reigns King.

The out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Affholter and children of Lathrop, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Hanson and children, Mrs. Clarence Thompson, Mrs. Nels Nielsen and Roy, all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Larson and sons of Kenyon, Minn.; Mrs. Oscar Fladland and Edith of Faribault, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Anderson and family of Elmore, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Hans Stole and children, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thorson and family of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Otis Thorsbakken and family, Mrs. Mary Allie and Jessie, Mr. ad Mr.s Larson, all of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kelling, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Egland, Mr. and Mrs. Casper Egland, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Thorson, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Egland, all of Jewell; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stark of Stanhope; Mrs. Katie Prescott of Popejoy.
