OBITUARY

A. J. Christenson

Andrew Julius Christenson died Nov. 27, 1920, on the old farm homestead of Endre Christenson, Tjernagel. He was born there May 28, 1883. He was born there May 28, 1883. He was the son of Endre and Julia Christenson, one of the early pioneer families of this community.

Andrew Christenson was married to Emily Benson of Randall, Feb. 28, 1914 to which union has been born one daughter--Myrtle Josephine, Jan. 20, 1915. Myrtle is old enough so she will always remember her kind and loving father.

The funeral took place in the North St. Petri church with Rev. Paulsrud officiating and the remains were buried in family plot in Mamrelund Cemetery Dec. 1st, 1920. The floral tributes were beautiful and in spite of bad roads the church was filled to overflowing with relatives and friends who wished to show their last respects.

Those who knew "Little Andrew" will always remember him as a pleasant, industrious and prosperous man; a man of sterling habits and one who had a kind word to everyone he met.

Andrew Christenson was the youngest child of Endre Christenson and was one of eleven children. To mourn his early demise he leaves a loving wife and little daughter, one brother Peter J. and two sisters, Mrs. A. H. Henderson and Mrs. B. A. Anderson and his aged father Endre Christenson Tjernagel, his mother, four sisters and three brothers having preceded him to the great beyond.

It is unusual and therefore remarkable to see Endre Tjernagel still in good vigor. He braved the hardships of pioneer life: raised a large family and has had to conduct nine of his nearest and dearest to their last resting place. There is a lesson fr us here as well as for "Uncle Endre." God grant that it be learned properly.
