ELLSWORTH BOY DIED FROM LEAP

Archie Ingebretson [sic] in Fatal Auto Accident at Forest City

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at Ellsworth for Archie Ingebretson [sic], son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ingebretson [sic], who met his death in a leap=the=gap performance at Forest City on Armistice day. Ingebretson was injured internally but lingered until early Monday morning when his death occurred.

The Ellsworth young man, who was a student at Waldorf college at Forest City, together with two companions attempted a twenty foot leap in the auto. The car nosed into the ground and then overturned, pinning all three occupants beneath. Carl Otis, driver of the car was unhurt; Theodore Swansend, the other occupant, suffered only minor injuries but Ingebretson was injured internally and sank slowly to his death. The accident occurred before a large crowd at an Armistice day football game at the fairgrounds in Forest City.

An Only Son

The body was brought to Ellsworth where it was laid to rest. Ingebretson was 17 years of age and an only son. He leaves three sisters besides his father and mother. The father is an implement dealer in Ellsworth.

Carl Otis, the driver of the car, is now under $2,000 bonds charged with manslaughter. It is alleged that Otis chided Ingebretson, dubbing him a coward when he expressed fear at taking part in the long leap from the twenty foot platform. He was arraigned before the Forest City mayor and bound over to the grand jury to answer the charge.
