OBITUARY

Anfin Mikkelson was born at Skaanevig, Norway, on December 28th, 1842, and died August 10th, 1919 in Story City, at the age of 77 years. He came to America when he was fifteen years of age and made his home at Lisbon, Ill., for about twenty-four years, and the remainder of his life was spent at Story City and Randall.

In 1887 he was united in marriage to Carrie Anfinson and to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Graham of Des Moines. His wife preceded him in death two years ago. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his daughter, four sisters, Mrs. Engeborg Olson of Webster City, Mrs. A. Larson of Randall, Mrs. S. Myre of Blahille, Ill., and Mrs. Bertha Larson of Lisbon, Ill.

Short funeral services were held at the Scott home at Story City at two o'clock and at the Randall church at three. Rev. Paulsrud, the pastor officiated, assisted by Rev. Hanson of Gruver, Ia. Rev. Hanson also sang "Jeg meg en sovn." The choir sang at the close of the sermon. The pall bearers were: S. J. Larson, Ole Simonson, T. G. Pederson, John Teigland, G. G. Wallen and H. B. Hanson. The body was laid to rest in Mamrelund cemetery, east of Randall.

Mr. Mikkelson enjoyed the best of health until about four months ago, when he suffered a stroke of paralysis, while visiting at the home of his cousin, Tom Scott of Story City, at which place he was tenderly cared for until the time of his death. Mr. Mikkelson was a member of the Lutheran church and professed in faith several years ago, and we feel confident that faith in Christ who had been accepted by him as his personal Saviour, sustained him in death and opened the portals to that Heavenly home for him, that He has prepared for them who love and trust Him. This assurance will comfort the daughter and relatives and make them look forward to the meeting with him again where there is no parting.
