OBITUARY

Irene Junina Paulsrud
By Mrs. P. Pederson

Irene Junina, oldest daughter of Reverend and Mrs. G. O. Paulsrud, was born at Randall, Iowa, the 11th day of August, 1902, and died from an acute attack of appendicitis at 2:30 o'clock, Monday morning, May 5th, 1919. She was at that time, 16 years, 8 months, and 24 days old.

She received Christian baptism October 5th, 1902, the sponsors being Mr. and Mrs. Marcelius Olson, of Story City and A. G. Anderson of Fergus Falls, Minn. She was confirmed October 8th, 1916. Those in her class were: Wilmer Hanson, Malvin Estrem, Sylvan Skeie, Gladys Johnson, Elsie Borwick, Bergetta Skeie, Elizabeth Tjernagel, Ruth Teig, Vivian Kalseim, Erma Sowers, Gertrude Egland and Lillian Skeie.

During the school year 1917-1918, she attended Jewell Lutheran college; but as Jewell College did not open in the autumn of 1918, she took up school work in the Story City High School. After New ear-1919, she attended Waldorf College, Forest City, where she was taken sick about two weeks ago, which resulted in her seemingly untimely death.

She was a homeloving girl, always seeking good, clean friends. Bad company and sinful enjoyment she had no use for. She was rather old in h ways of thinking and of a serious trend of mind. She had many friends among the young and old. As she was satisfied in life, so was she satisfied in death.

With her parents, two doctors and two nurses at her bed-side, helplessly looking on, she peacefully and smilingly passed into her eternal home.

Besides her parents, she leaves four brothers and two sisters to mourn the great loss. But their loss is her gain.

Funeral services were held at one-thirty o'clock Thursday afternoon from the home and at two o'clock at Elim's church of Randall conducted by Rev. H. C. Holm, of Eagle Grove, assisted by Rev. Lee, of Radcliffe, who spoke in English. Before the services the choir sang the deceased's favorite song, "My Saviour First of All." The biography was read by Rev. Duea of Slater. Mrs. Walter Henderson sang the beautiful song, "Asleep in Jesus." Prof. Bjertness was sent as a representative of the student body.

In behalf of Rev. Paulsrud and family, Rev. Spande of Eagle Grove, thanked the people for their kindness and sympathy during the illness and death of their daughter. At the close the choir sang "Bedre kan jeg ikke fare." The church was filled with loving friends and relatives, who came to pay the last tribute of respect.

Besides the many floral offerings, a beautiful casket blanket was given by the community. The body was laid to res in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.

The pall bearers were Ina Peterson, Ruth Hovland, Alvina Pederson, Maggie Rande, Bernice Twedten and Frances Henderson.

Junina will be remembered by her many friends as a sweet spirited, tender hearted, loving and loveable girl. She was thoughtful for others to a degree far beyond the average girl of her age. She busied herself continually with trying to lighten the burdens of her mother and soothing and comforting the wounded feelings of her companions and associates. Her life was well lived, and after scattering a few years of sunshine in her earthly home, she departed to be an angel where she might always behold the face of her Heavenly Father.

The ministers who were in attendance were: Rev. H. C. Holm, of Eagle Grove, president of the Iowa District, Rev. Duea, of Slater; Rev. Sandven of Roland; Rev. Lee, of Radcliffe; Rev. Norstad of Jewell; Rev. Heidel, of Radcliffe; Rev. Spande of Eagle Grove.
