DEATH OF C. C. NELSON

Without a moment's warning of death, C. C. Nelson passed into the Great Beyond the 9th of January. His funeral occurred Saturday officiated by Rev. Paulsrud. Rev. Paulsrud was at his best and the thought that sounded like a trumpet call "Where would you have been today if you had been the on called so suddenly?" It is safe to say that there was no one but what felt thankful for being more time of grace.

C. C. Nelson was born near Norway, Ill., March 26, 1844. His parent were early pioneers in Illinois and were Jonas Nelson and Sophia Olson Hetletvedt. His father died when Mr. Nelson was a young boy.

When he was 17 years old he enlisted in the 104th Ill. Volunteers and remained in the service for three years and was honorably discharged at the termination of the Civil War.

Immediately after the war was over he came to Iowa and was married to Bertha Christenson August 19, 1865. To this union eight children were born, four of whom have preceded him and four remain to mourn their loss. One lived in Portland, Ore., two in Minneapolis and one in Randall. All were able to come and be present at the last sad service. Besides his aged wife and four children to mourn his death he leaves two [half] sisters--Mrs. Melber of Norway, Iowa, and Mrs. M. L. Henderson of Randall.

He is "At Rest" in Mamrulund Cemetery where his boys were laid before him to await the call on the Great Day.

Those who knew Canute the most liked him best. --T.
