OBITUARY OF THOR HOLLAND

Thor Holland was born at Sevde, Norway, March 15, 1842, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Swen Olson at Montrose, S. Dak., Feb. 11, 1926; he was at his death 84 years old.

He came to America in 1864 and settled on a farm six miles west of Randall, Hamilton county, Iowa. 5 years ago he moved with his sons to Rutland, S. Dak., where he lived until this winter when he moved to his daughter.

April 4, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Thompson of Hardanger, Norway. To this union 8 children were born; 3 have preceded him in death; those who survive are Thomas, Cornelius, Anna (now Mrs. Swen Olson), and Martin, all of Montrose, and Sarah (now Mrs. Brandvig) of Story City, Ia. Besides his wife and children he also leaves 2 grandchildren.

Friday, Feb. 12, funeral services were held at the home of Swan Olson, Montrose, S. D., conducted by Rev. Osmund Stensland of Colton, S. Dak., after which the remains, according to his wishes, were brought back to Iowa. Monday, Feb. 15, he was buried from Immanuel church at Story City. Many of his friends and former neighbors were present, Rev. G. O. Paulsrud conducted the funeral with the assistance of Rev. T. Heimarck and Rev. S. O. Heidel. He was laid to rest in the Aabe cemetery, a few rods from his old home.
