Obituary of Mrs. Bendix Olson

Batilda Indstifjord, daughter of Jens and Martha Indstifjord, was born at Indstifjord, Norway, March 14, 1840 and died at Jewell, Iowa, December 3, 1925 aged 85 years, 8 months and 19 days. She was married to Benedick Olson in Norway, July 15, 1867. They emigrated to America three years later arriving here July 4, 1870, locating at the home farm 4 1/2 miles southeast of Stanhope, where they lived through all the active years of their lives. They then moved Story City where the deceased resided until about a year after the death of her husband, since when she has lived with her children.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Olson, of whom six survive her. They are: J. B. Olson of Grand Forks, N. D., Iver Olson of Jewell, Iowa, Mrs. Albert Jackson of Story City, Mrs. T. L. Mathre of Story City, Iowa, Mrs. Axel Ekstrand of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. L. G. Omvig of Stanhope, Iowa. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, besides a host of friends in this community by whom her memory will long be cherished.
