OBITUARIES

Mrs. Lars Tjernagel

Mrs. Lars Tjernagel, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Serine Hacktorson Bua, was born a Bua, Sveen, near Haugesund, Norway, March 3, 1876, and died on the Tjernagel farm 2 1/2 miles southeast of Randall, Iowa, on Dec. 20, 1924. She lived to be almost 49 years old.

On July 6, 1896 she was married in Bergen, Norway, to Lars Tjernagel. To this union was born fourteen children ranging in age from 18 months to 27 years. The children's names are: Mrs. Leonard Anderson of Howick, Minn., Ole, Hector, Elizabeth, Louise, Helen, Rosy, Lars, Christian, Gustav, Agathe, Johan, Anna and Bendik. The children are all at home with the exception of Mrs. Anderson.

October 8, 1901, Mrs. Tjernagel, together with her husband came to America. Shortly after their arrival they bought the farm where they have lived since and where Mrs. Tjernagel died.

Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her death, her parents and seven brothers and sisters in Norway.

Mrs. Tjernagel was a very ambitious and industrious woman. She was a home-loving mother caring for her home with ------ mother's tenderness and love. Her faith in her Savior was marked not so much by wor--- -- by her life and deeds. To all who visited her home she showed much friendliness and hospitality. Bye her death the family has suffered an irredeemable loss. However, we fully believe that their loss is her gain. Our prayer to God is that He who guides and rules all things will hold His almighty hand over the bereaved family; comfort them in the great sorrow; help them, in the midst of their loss, to thank God for a tender and loving mother; and especially, to cling close to the Savior, who was their mother's comfort and refuge.

The following card of sympathy from the faculty and pupils of the Randall Consolidated School was read at the funeral:

We express to the member of the bereaved family our deepest sympathy, and pray that our gracious heavenly Father may comfort the sore hearts with the hope of reunited fellowship in Christ Jesus in the Resurrection.

The funeral services were held Dec. 23 at Elim's Lutheran church, of which church she was a member. Her pastor, Rev. G. O. Paulsrud, officiated. A large number of people were present to pay their last tribute to the deceased. Her casket, decked with flowers, was brought to Mamre Cemetery, where her remains were laid to rest until the Resurrection Day.
