OBITUARY

MRS. S. A. STOLP

Mrs. S. A. Stolp passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. H. Espeland, early Wednesday morning, Jan. 26. Death came in her sleep, and when members of the family came to look after her about 7 o'clock they found she had passed away. It was thought she had been dead less than an hour.

Mrs. Stolp had been an invalid for many years, and all of these years she had been tenderly cared for by her daughters and other members of the family. She had been bedfast most of the time during the past two years. Every few weeks she would be confined to her bed, and each time it seemed she would not be able to get up again, but she soon would be up and around the house. The past two weeks she had been bedfast again, and a heavy cough drained her vitality rapidly. On Tuesday she had visited with the family during the day as usual, and her death, tho not unlooked for, came as a shock to the family.

Funeral service was held at the Fleenor Funeral Home in Jewell Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted aby Rev. G. O. Paulsrud. Two songs were sung by a quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fenton and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Fleenor, and interment was made in the Jewell cemetery.
----------
Laura Adelaide Stolp was born at Lakin's Grove, northwest of Ellsworth, on July 10, 1865, and died at Randall Jan. 29, at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 19 days. She was the daughter of Brint and Abigail Fuller Lakin. Her father was one of the pioneer settlers along Skunk river in Hamilton county, coming to Lakin's Grove with his father and others two weeks after the first settler, Luther Lakin, his brother, arrived in 1855.

Mrs. Stolp spent her entire life in Ellsworth and Jewell, and came to Randall four years ago for a couple years. She had an apartment over the Randall State bank and the past two years made her home with her daughter, Mrs. P. H. Espeland.

She was married in the summer of 1887 at Nevada to Silas A. Stolp. To this union three daughters were born, all of whom survive her. They are, Mrs. Bert Summers and Mrs. J. W. Christenson, both of Palatine, Ill., and Mrs. Espeland of Randall. Mr. Stolp passed away Oct. 9, 1909. She is survived by three brothers, Henry of Spencer, Ben of Dickens and Glen of Boone; also seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Christian church at Jewell for over 35 years. Previous to that she was affiliated with the Methodist church at Jewell.
