MRS. BUELL, 83, DIES AT HOME HERE TUESDAY

Funeral Services for Long Time Resident Thursday Afternoon.

Mrs. C.E. Buell, 83, long time resident of Webster City and prominent in church and social circles, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 1108 Des Moines street. Death was due to complications following a heart attack. She had been seriously ill the past week.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home, with the Rev. Harold Putney, officiating. Burial will be made in Graceland cemetery.

Eliza Ann Sparks, daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann Sparks, was born Dec. 12, 1858 at Fairplay, Wis., where she grew to young womanhood and attended school. In the year 1877 she was united in marriage to Chalker E. Buell. They took up housekeeping in Fairplay where they resided until March 1, 1881.

That year they moved to Iowa, locating on a farm in Rose Grove township, Hamilton county, At that time farm land was wild prairie with no fences. In 1888 they moved into Williams and made their home there until May 3, 1893 when they came to Webster City to live. Mr. Buell was engaged in the real estate business.

Mrs. Buell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died June 18, 1913, four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter. They are Mrs. George Teed, Webster City; Herbert J., Webster City; James A., Worchester, Mass; and Walter E., of Sioux City. She was loved by her daughters-in-law and loved them as if they were her own daughters.

One brother, Arthur Sparks, lives at Lakefield, Minn., and another, C.A. Sparks, at Buffalo Center, Iowa.

Several grandchildren also survive her. Mrs. Helen Teed Hackley, Mrs. Frances Teed Tatham, George Wilmer Teed and James A. Teed are children of Mr. and Mrs. George Teed; Robet R. Buell, Mrs. Mary Buell Isensee and Herbert J. Buell, jr., children of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Buell; Samuel N. Buell of Coatsville, Pa., son of James A. Buell; and Betty E. Buell of Sioux City, daughter of Walter E. Buell.

Mrs. Buell was baptized in the Christian faith and had been an active member of the Congregational church since 1897. Her home and church were her principal interests and she devoted her life to them. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a kind neighbor. Her many friends will regret to learn of her passing.
