Joe K. Lukehart, 62, former Webster City manager, died Friday evening at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient for 11 months. He had suffered a heart attack in June, 1981.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ with Don Basye and Rev. Raymond Roden officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at which time the casket will be taken to the church.

Joe K. Lukehart, son of Carl and Eva Van Buskirk Lukehart, was born Aug. 23, 1920 at Eagle Grove and attended Eagle Grove schools. He was graduated from Webster City high school, and attended Webster City Junior college and also Iowa State University in Ames.

He was united in marriage April 15, 1945 to Cornelia Mills, and was associated with the Zitterell-Mills Co. for 30 years. In 1971, he became associated with the Willis-Regian Architects in Omaha, returning to Webster City in 1974 to accept the position of city manager. He held this office for eight years.

He is survived by his wife; three sons and one daughter, Jeff Lukehart of McMinnville, Ore., Kirk Lukehart of South Sioux City, Neb., Tom Lukehart of Corpus Cchristi, Texas and Mrs. Monte (Amy) Spikes of Biloxi, Miss., one granddaughter, Erica Lukehart; one brother, Bill Lukehart of Pocatello, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Everett (Helen) Mulholland of Webster City and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

He was a member of the Church of Christ; served the community as councilman, mayor and city manager, a member of the Acacia Lodge, Eastern Star; a charter member and past president of the Webster City Jaycees; active in the original Webster City Community Theatre group; was a past member of Toastmasters, while in Omaha was a member of the South Omaha Optimist club and had completed a year as president of the Iowa City Management association.

Mr. and Mrs. Lukehart were selected as Parents of the Year at UNI in 1978. He served as church secretary and Sunday School superintendent and was active in the Men's Fellowship group of the Church of Christ.
