Funeral services for John R. Knutson, 55, lifelong Webster City-Kamrar resident, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Roden officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. Flag folding ceremonies will be held at graveside by the American Legion Post 191.

Mr. Knutson died early Monday morning. He had been in ill health the past two years.

John Richard Knutson, son of Helmer and Della Walterman Knutson, was born Nov. 24, 1922 at Kamrar. He was reared and educated in that community, being graduated from high school in 1942. From 1942 to 1945 he served with the U.S. Army in the European war theater.

In 1947 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Cook, and the couple resided in Webster City where Mr. Knutson was a professional painter.

He is survived by three sons, Roger Knutson, Minneapolis, Richard Knutson of Montclair, Calif., and Ronald Knutson, Des Moines; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Della Knutson, Webster City; four brothers and one sister, Roy Knutson, Kamrar, Harley Knutson, Des Moines, Howard Knutson, Pella and Gary Knutson, Biloxi, Miss., and Mrs. Arnold (Marjorie) Olson of Clarion.

He was preceded in death by his father and one grandchild.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, the American Legion Post 191, the V.F.W. Post 5724.
