Russell Norman, 82, a long-time resident of Webster City, died this morning at Hamilton County hospital. He had been in ill health several years but more seriously ill the past six weeks.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Maurice L. McClun of Blairsburg officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Russell Norman, son of John Wesley and Viola Jane Norman, was born August 9, 1886 on a farm in Decatur county, Iowa, and was reared and educated in Decatur county.

He was united in marriage Oct. 12, 1907 at Leon, Iowa, to Nora McDowell, and for 32 years the couple farmed in and around Decatur county. In 1939, they moved to Woolstock where they owned and operated a grocery store. In 1940, the couple moved to Webster City and for a number of years the couple resided in the former Pringle Apartments. For the past two years the family had lived at 500 1/2 Second St.

He is survived by his wife; eight daughters, Mrs. Fred (Thelma) Rhodes of Leon, Mrs. Herman (Wilma) Candler and Mrs. Kyle (Hildred) Germaine, both of Toddville, Iowa, Mrs. Frank (Marjorie) Pettit, Sr. and Mrs. Dean (Pauline) Seeman, both of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Charles (Beulah) McKay, Mrs. Harold (Georgia) Miller and Mrs. Lowell (Betty) Caquelin, all of Webster City.

Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Esther Baker, Webster City, Mrs. Orville (Birdie) Caquelin, Woolstock and Mrs. Wayne (Nell) Butcher, Orient, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Norman was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Norman, who died April 6, 1968; by his parents, two brothers, who died in infancy, and two brothers, Isaac and Jess Norman.

Mr. Norman was baptized in the Assembly of God church at Decatur, Iowa.
