Henry O. Sexe was born at Odda, Hardanger, Norway, March 31, 1846 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M.O. Johnson, July 9, 1930. He was at his death 84 years and 4 months old. Mr. Sexe came from Norway to Lee county, Ill., in the month of June 1868. The same year, August 11, he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Ferris [her obituary said Freim], from Odda, Hardanger. After a two year stay in Illinois, the young couple moved to Trempealear county, Wisconsin, where they spent 2 years. They then moved to Brown's county, Minn., where they spent seven years. In 1879 Mr. and Mrs. Sexe moved to Hamilton county, Iowa, one mile south of Jewell. When his strength began to fail, they moved to Jewell, where they lived for fifteen years.

Since 1917 Mr. and Mrs. Sexe have made their home with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. M.O. Johnson, who live near Randall. Mrs. Sexe died June 10, 1927.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sexe. Two passed away in infancy. The children who are living to mourn the loss of their father are: Alfred Sexe, of Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Julia Engelby of Frost, Minn.; Chris Sexe of Eddiston, Canada; Mrs. M.O. Johnson, of Randall; Mrs. J.D. Grover of Wrenshall, Minn.; and Mrs. Anna Buckles of Chicago. He also leaves twenty grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the M.O. Johnson home and at the Bethesda Lutheran church in Jewell at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. G.O. Paulsrud, of Randall. Bertha Tjernagel and Alvina Johnson sang three duets, one at the home and two at the church. They were accompanied by Mrs. Ole Sopeland. Burial was made at Jewell.
