Erma Stuhmer, 86, of Webster City, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home with Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and prior to the services on Friday.

Erma Hilpipre, daughter of August and Fanny Emmenderfer Hilpipre, was born Sept. 2, 1917 on a farm north of Blairsburg. She received her education in rural schools in that area. On February 14, 1937 she married Harold Henry Stuhmer at Williams. The couple farmed northeast of Williams. In 1943, the couple moved to Webster City. She had done housekeeping duties for several families in the Webster City area including Arch Foster. Mr. Stuhmer died June 8, 1978. She continued to reside at Webster City.

Mrs. Stuhmer is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Gerald Evans of Peoria, Ariz., June and Richard Van Langen of Jewell; grandchildren, Debra Napier of Phoenix, Ariz., Douglas Van Langen of Ellsworth, Chuck Van Langen of Jewell; Jon Evans of Fort Dodge, Darla Van Langen of Phoenix, Steve Evans of West Des Moines; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Barkema and Dorothy Lappin, both of Webster City; brothers, Marcel Hilpipre, Webster City; Clarence Hilpipre of Woolstock, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Scott Van Langen, granddaughter Connie Sue Evans; granddaughter-in-law, Lorna Van Langen; great-grandsons, Travis James Van Langen and Tjay Scott Van Langen; brothers Glen and Edmond Hilpipre, sisters, Elsie Story and Hortance Mortenson, and three brothers in infancy.

She was a member of the French Club (Ban de la Rouche) at Woolstock, enjoyed reading, fishing and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Stuhmer's eyes were donated through the Iowa Donor Network.
