Orlene H. Egeland, 87, of Story City passed away November 11, 2022 at Bethany Life in Story City. A Celebration of Life service will be Friday November 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.

Orlene was born on November 15, 1934 north of Roland to Violet (Tjelmeland) and Ole Helmer Egeland. He graduated from Randall High School in 1952 and entered the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. Orlene farmed near Randall for many years and also worked at Iowa State University in the Atomic Energy Department. Orlene was a member of Elim Lutheran Church and the Randall Lions Club. He married Arlene Lenning on September 24, 1960 at Federated Church in Jewell. She passed away on July 25, 1996. Orlene then married Judith (Jorgensen) Sowers on July 5, 2002. She passed away on July 9, 2020.

Orlene is survived by his sons, Loren Egeland, Lynn (Kathryn) Egeland and Lance Egeland (Pam Mercer); brother-in-law, Larry (Beth) Lenning; sisters-in-law Carolyn Gordon and Sharon Egeland; his grandchildren, Nicole (Lonnie) Bacon, Dalton (Alexandria) Egeland and Cheyanne Egeland (fiancee Jake Doyle); his great grandchildren, Kobe, Kaleb, Misha, Gail, Waylen and Urie; a special niece, Anne (Tom) Owens and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Arlene; second wife Judith; brothers, Irving, Marvin and Arnold and a daughter-in-law Misha Egeland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elim Lutheran Church.
