Janet Lynn Lovell, 68, of Ellsworth passed away March 15, 2022 at her home in Ellsworth. A Celebration of Life service was Saturday, March 15, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial was in the Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth.

Janet Lynn Halleland was born in Story City, Iowa on April 4, 1953 to Betty June Reese Halleland and Herbert James Halleland. She lived in Randall, Iowa until 1963. She attended school there, until she moved with her family to Blairsburg where she began attending Northeast Hamilton. Janet graduated from high school in 1971 and proceeded to attend Waldorf College, then Ellsworth Jr. College where she graduated in 1973.

Janet married Robert Michael Klein on April 26th, 1974 in Blairsburg, Iowa. They had three children: Travis, Maura and Emily. Bob passed away in 1992. Janet then married John Charles Lovell on July 11th, 1993 in Ellsworth, Iowa. Janet and John have enjoyed 28 wonderful years together filled with enjoying their children and grandchildren, cheering on ISU, their life together in faith, time with friends and much more.

Janet worked at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, then moved on to work at South Hamilton Elementary and High School in Jewell. But the highlight of her career was working at Iowa State University. Janet worked for the University for 19 years, serving four years as the office coordinator for the Olympic sports followed by 15 years as administrative assistant to the director of the athletics where she interacted with countless administrators, support staff, coaches and student athletes during her tenure and made everlasting impact on the lives of those she worked with.

Volunteer work and her faith were also important to Janet. For many years she was an integral part of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth and then became an active member of Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Janet participated in a variety of fundraising activities some of which included: The United Way, she volunteered annually with the Special Olympics, was on the Board for Youth and Shelter Services, mentored at-risk children and participated every year in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. She was nominated for and received a Governor's Award for her work in 2018.

Janet had many other passions including gardening, shopping and exercise. She valued time running with her dog Riley.

Janet is survived by her husband, John Lovell; her children, Travis Klein (Corrie), Maura Klein (Brandon Sturgill) and Emily Klein (Wesley Peetz); and eight grandchildren, her mother Betty, brother Keith Halleland and sister Joan Kitten. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Halleland.
