Vivian Charlson, 88, of Webster City, died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fosters Chapel, with Pastor Richard Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday.

Salena Vivian Koestner, daughter of William and Millie Burns Koestner, was born June 25, 1916 at Vandalia, Mo. She received her education in the Webster City schools, graduating from Lincoln High in 1934. She attended Normal Training for one year. She taught in rural schools in the Webster City area. On October 1, 1942 she married Earl Beacher Charlson. The couple farmed southwest of Webster City, later moving to Webster City. She had been employed at Anthony's and Ben Franklin's.

Mrs. Charlson is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Martina Housken Charlson of Lake Charles La.; brother, Floyd Koestner of West Des Moines, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Franklin and Lloyd Koestner; sisters, Lillian and Flossie Koestner; Marie Dencklau and Aileen Richards.

She was a member of the New Testament Church of Christ and enjoyed sewing and making crafts and sharing them with family and friends. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W.
