Dorothy Flugstad, 92, of rural Duncombe, died Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Pastors Scott Jones and Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and at the church after 11:00 a.m. on Monday.

Dorothy Irene Nelson, daughter of Rev. Roy and Nola Luckinbill Nelson, was born February 22, 1912 at Guthrie County. She received her education in the Boone, Clarinda and Coon Rapids schools, graduating from Coon Rapids in 1929. On October 8, 1937 she married Herschel Myron Flugstad at Churdan. The couple operated a grain and livestock family farm south of Flugstad and also cared for his father. She was a homemaker and also provided home health care in the Webster City area. Mr. Flugstad died January 6, 1998. She continued to reside on the family farm. She had resided at Southfield Assisted Living for 2 years and Southfield Wellness Community for the past three weeks.

Mrs. Flugstad is survived by son, John Flugstad of Webster City, daughter and son-in-law, Nola and David Knudsen of Hot Springs, Ar., grandchildren, Mike and Joshua Flugstad, Jill Harrington, Joy Foose, Lori Hartnett, Randy, Kenton and Trenton Knudsen; 26 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Willard and Roy Nelson.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, was a former member of the Faith United Methodist Church, a former 4-H leader and former Cub Scout Leader.
