Frances Kern, 82, Webster City, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Foster Chapel, with Pastors Don Howard, Beryl Vinchattle and Kenneth Fogelman officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service on Monday.

Frances Elizabeth Lanser, daughter of Frank and Margaret Lanser, was born January 19, 1912 at Norfolk, Ne. She received her education at Norfolk. On Sept. 21, 1931 she married Robert Arthur Kern at Sioux City. The couple resided at Sioux City. They resided in many communities in Iowa. They moved to Webster City in 1950, then to Algona and back to Webster City in 1986. They retired in 1984. She had worked as a checker for Dunn's Grocery for over 20 years. Mr. Kern died November 5, 1998. She had resided at Crestview Senior Living since September of 2002.

Mrs. Kern is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Madonna and Dwight Louck of Gravis Mills, Mo., Corinne and Donald Dremmel of Dubuque; Karol Peterson of Jefferson, Beverly and Curtis Pelz of Ames, sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Delores Kern of Woolstock, Paul and Delores Kern, of Webster City, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren, Randy Joe Kern in 1966 and Sherri Kern in 1990, brothers, twins, Herbert and Norbert Lanser; Raymond and Alverna Lanser; sisters, Lucille and Anastasia Lanser.

She was a member of the Word of Life Chapel at Fort Dodge.
