Leonard O. Runn, 95, of Stratford, died Friday, December 17, 2004 at his rural home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Stratford Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joe Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, north of Stratford. Visitation will be at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center at Webster City.

Leonard Oscar Runn, son of John and Emily Lundquist Runn, was born December 26, 1908 at Stratford. At the age of three, he moved with his parents to a farm south of Stratford. He attended a rural school in that area. On September 16, 1933 he married Leona Bass at Carroll. The couple started farming the Merle Osterquist farm in 1939, actively farming until the age of 92. Over several years the Runn's provided a home, at various times, for 33 young girls from the Mitchellville Training School. Mrs. Runn died May 31, 1978. He continued to reside on his farm.

Mr. Runn is survived by daughters, Orene Martin and Evelyn Lundberg, both of Stratford, grandson, Bob L. Martin and special friend, Jody Head, both of Stratford; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Leonard Runn in 1966; brothers, Melvin, Virgil and Carrol Runn.

He was confirmed in the Stratford Lutheran Church on May 11, 1924. He was also a member of the United Cooperative of Stratford.
