Eugenia Hampton, 98, of Des Moines, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 at the Heather Manor at Des Moines. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Graceland Cemetery at Webster City, with Rev. Howard Hunt officiating. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Heather Manor - 600 East 5th Street - Des Moines, with Rev. Patricia Oberbillig officiating. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center at Webster City.

Marium Eugenia Hampton, daughter of Harper and Frankie Bennett Hampton, was born June 17, 1906 at Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1924. In 1928, she graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, pursuing a career as a professional secretary. In Des Moines, she worked at Kruidener Cadillac and the Follett Publishing Company. For 30 years, beginning in 1942, she worked for the Los Angeles School District, retiring as executive secretary to the assistant superintendent for personnel. She traveled all of the United States and many other countries of the world and had a keen interest in everyone she met.

Ms. Hampton is survived by a niece, Dr. Catherine Ditmore of Des Moines; nephew, William L. Hampton of Colorado Springs, Co.; 7 grand-nieces and grand-nephews; 8 great-grand-nephews and great-grand-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William B. Hampton and a nephew, Kendall Hampton.

She had memberships in the national, state and city associations of school secretaries.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Eugenia Hampton Memorial Fund at Heather Manor.
