Pauline Leeds, 75, of 818 Burns Street in Stratford, Iowa passed away at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa on Friday morning, October 1, 2004.

She was born on April 3, 1929 in Washta, Iowa the daughter of Clyde and Marie (Jackson) McCoy.

On June 15, 1947 she married LaVerne Leeds at Quimby, Iowa. Pauline graduated from Quimby High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in the operation of their grocery store business in numerous communities. In 1960, the family moved to Kamrar where they owned and operated the local locker. In 1968, they took over the operation of the Kamrar Grocery and Lean-To-Cafe. They later purchased the grocery store in Blairsburg, Iowa. In 1972, the family moved to Stratford to make their home. They owned and operated grocery stores in Stratford, Colo, Roland and Stanhope. For a time, they owned the Ostra Siden Restaurant in Stratford and the bakery in Stanhope, Iowa. In 1990, they retired from the grocery business.

Pauline was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford where she was very active and had served as a lay speaker. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, needle pointing and working in her flower garden. Pauline was an avid collector of angels. She enjoyed being with her family and playing cards with her card club.

Her parents, husband LaVerne in October of 1993, 1 son Calvin in August of 1999 and 2 sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include 5 sons, Kenneth Leeds and his wife Rose of Centennial, Colorado, Kevin Leeds and his wife Yvonne of Webster City, Iowa; Keith Leeds and his wife Mary of Stratford, Iowa, Kirk Leeds and his wife Kim of Boone, Iowa, Kyle Leeds and his wife Diane of Stratford, Iowa, 4 daughters, Penny Woodard of Stratford, Iowa, Kaylen Leeds of Harcourt, Iowa, Karla Caquelin and her husband Bruce of Webster City, Iowa, Kelly Wilson and her husband Tom of Bellevue, Nebraska, 28 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Nora Leeds Mendyk and her husband Dave of Giltner, Nebraska and 1 sister Marie Clark of Quimby, Iowa.

Services will be held on Tuesday morning, October 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Stratford Baptist Church in Stratford, Iowa with Rev. Jenna Zirbel officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Stratford Baptist Church in Stratford on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service time. The family will be present at the Stratford Baptist Church on Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to greet friends.
