Athena "Tena" Louise Flesher, 59, Chariton, died at her home Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004. Services were held Friday at the Fielding Funeral Home. A memorial has been established for Lucas County Humane Society.

Tena was born Jan. 17, 1945 in Des Moines to Lloyd and Helen Schneider Rinehimer. She grew up in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School in 1963. She then went to Minnesota Bible College and from there attended and graduated from the American Institute of Business. In 1988, she and her son Geoff moved to Chariton where she became employed as an Income Maintenance Worker for the Department of Human Services.

She was a member of the Chariton Christian Church, past president of the BPW, a member and past president of Xi Psi Sorority, a member of the Red Hat Society and a former leader of Tiger Cub Scouts.

She is survived by son Geoff and wife Linda (Stevens) Flesher, granddaughter Shelby Louise Flesher; two sisters, Shirley (Les) Juon of Dakota Dunes, SD., and Deb (Ron) Kohl of Blairsburg; two nephews; two nieces; three great-nephews and one great-niece.
