Maurice Eugene Hatcher, 65, Wahiawa, Hawaii, died Aug. 24, 2004. Funeral services were held at the Southern Baptist Church on Sept. 3 in Honolulu, Hawaii with burial in the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.

He was born May 12, 1939 in Grand River, Iowa, the son of Jack and Mertie Hatcher of Webster City. He was married to Chong Shin in Korea in 1973.

Mr. Hatcher moved to the Webster City area in 1948. He attended Webster City schools, graduating in 1957. He worked for Nissen's Meat Packing in Webster City for three years before entering the U.S. Army in 1961. After three years in the service, he returned to Webster City and was a member of the Police Department for two years before re-entering the U.S. Army. He served two terms in Vietnam, receiving the bronze medal with V device for heroism. In 1991, he retired from the U.S. Army and made his home in Hawaii.

He is survive by his wife; children, Maurice E. Hatcher Jr., South Carolina; Wayne of Hawaii, Kimberly of Hawaii; seven grandchildren; his father, Jack Hatcher and step-mother, Jean; two brothers, Larry (Darlene) of Cedar Falls; and Marvin (Jeri) of Kenosha, Wis.
