Severt A. Crim, 97, of 925 Burns, Stratford, Iowa, passed away at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa on Wednesday morning, September 8, 2004.

He was born on January 3, 1907, on a farm northeast of Ridgeport, Iowa the son of John and Bessie (Mathre) Crim.

On May 9, 1942, he married Margaret Iles at Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Severt attended Stratford country schools and graduated from Stratford High School in 1925. He graduated from Sweeney Automotive and Electrical School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1930. Prior to returning to the Stratford area, Severt worked as a hired hand on a farm in Galva, Illinois. After their marriage, the couple resided on their farm south of Stratford until 1995, when they moved to their present residence in Stratford.

He was a life-long member of the South Marion United Methodist Church.

His parents, four sisters, three brothers and one grandson preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Stratford, Iowa; five sons and four daughters-in-law, John and Judy Crim of Centreville, Virginia, Marvin and Dorothy Crim of Sioux City, Iowa, Paul and Sally Crim of Omaha, Nebraska, Bruce Crim of Foristell, Missouri, Lowell and Jenifer Crim of Stratford, Iowa; one sister, Helen Bergman of Stratford, Iowa; one brother and sister-in-law, Halbert and Patti Crim of Stanhope, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Mildred Crim of Boone, Iowa; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Saturday morning, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the South Marion United Methodist Church in Stratford with Rev. Jenna Zirbel and Layperson Gina Spohnheimer officiating.

Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford, Iowa.

Friends could call the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning at the South Marion United Methodist Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family was present at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.

Memorials may be given to the South Marion United Methodist Church. Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Stratford, Iowa were in charge of arrangements.
