Idelle Hyland, age 83, of Radcliffe, died on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Idelle will be buried in the Radcliffe Cemetery in Radcliffe. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe.

Idelle Lucille (Olson) Hyland was born October 11, 1920 on a farm northeast of Ellsworth to John and Lesa (Erickson) Olson. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth on December 19, 1920. Idelle attended Lincoln Township #5 in Hamilton County and later taught there. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1938.

On August 4, 1946 she married Mervin Hyland at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. For a number of years they farmed in Radcliffe and Oskaloosa. The family returned to Radcliffe in 1960. She worked various jobs around the community.

Idelle was an organist for 45 years at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. She taught piano to several generations. She was loved by her students. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Needle Circle.

Survivors include her husband Mervin of Radcliffe, Iowa; two sons and a daughter: Gene Hyland of Sunset Beach, California, Kim and Rachel Hyland of Fremont, California and Rachel and John Norem of Webster City, Iowa, her sister Wilma Wykle of Radcliffe, Iowa; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Idelle was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eleanor Olson, and one granddaughter, Angela Kay Norem.
