William R. Phillips, 59, Webster City, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center at Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Church at Lehigh, with Rev. Richard Laird officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery, west of Lehigh. Visitation will be at the church two hours before the service time. VFW Post #5720 of Lehigh will conduct graveside military rites.

William Richard Phillips, son of Jay and Melsena Williams Phillips, was born Sept. 22, 1944 at Lehigh. He attended Lehigh Public School. He served with the U.S. Air Force in an administration assignment at the Loring Air Force Base in Maine and at Guam. In 1964, he married Ruth Cora Dean. The couple resided at Dayton where he worked at the tile plant. The couple were later divorced. On Aug. 25, 1984 he married Janice Kaye Gordon Janvrin at Randall. The couple resided at Webster City. He had been employed at Arrow Acme and Webster City Lanes. He retired due to failing health.

Bill is survived by his wife, Janice; children and spouses, Matthew and Nancy Deprey of Rockville, Md., Laurie Vibbert of Thurmont, Md., Shannon and Jason Mease of Frederick, Md., Tina Janvrin and Gary West of Duncombe, Harry Janvrin of Webster City, Melissa and Jamie Fortune of Webster City; nine grandchildren; parents, Jay and Mel Phillips of Harcourt; brothers and sisters, Randy Phillips of Lanyon, Tracy Phillips of Rockwell City, Elaine Wheeling of Harcourt, Jan Conaway of Freemont, Neb.; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by twins in infancy and a sister, Pam Doody.

He was secretary for the Men's Bowling Association, American Legion Post #191 of Webster City, VFW Post #4720 of Lehigh, an Eagle Scout and a Boy Scout Leader at Dayton and Webster City.
