Norman Lass, age 88, of Stanhope, died Friday, July 30, 2004 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope. Burial will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Norman Oliver Lass was born in Ventura, Iowa on Sunday, May 21, 1916 to Henry Herman and Esther Olive (Sundgren) Lass. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on August 31, 1930 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boxholm. On April 15, 1939 Norm married Pauline Sophina Larson in Boxholm. They farmed until 1963 when they moved into Stanhope. Norm worked for Percival Refrigeration in Boone and the Hamilton County Highway Department, retiring in 1978. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope.

Norm is survived by three sons, Kenneth Lass of Ramsey, MN., Dale Lass of Dubuque, IA., and John Lass of Minnetrista, MN; a daughter, Doris Dalbey of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Kevin Lass, Angela Vaubel, Eric Neuman, Benjamin Lass, Jordan Lass and David Wilson; three great granddaughters, Caylie Vaubel, Kristina Vaubel and Maggie Neuman; two brothers, Donald Lass of Pilot Mound and Lloyd Lass of Las Vegas, NV., and a sister-in-law, Bernice Larson of Paton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pauline in 1992, a grandson, Robert Lass, a son-in-law, Rick Neuman and a brother, Melvin Lass.
