James E. Bray, 81, Webster City, died Friday, June 25, 2004 at Southfield Wellness Community, Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Webster City, with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #191 of Webster City. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Webster City.

James Edward Bray, son of James and Ada Hall Bray, was born July 26, 1922 at Britt. His family moved to Webster City when he was seven. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941. Following his education, he entered the U.S. Army. He served with the Army Engineers Battalion during W.W. II. On January 26, 1945 he married Helen Johnson at Webster City. He farmed in the Webster City area and was also employed by Brin's Furniture, Peed's Publishing and American Republic Insurance until his retirement. Mrs. Bray died on Feb. 4, 1986.

Mr. Bray is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Knoll of Evansdale, son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Julie (Raymond) Bray of Lehigh; six grandchildren and spouses, Shaun and Sara (Dodge) Knoll of Waterloo, Blake and Angela Knoll of Evansdale, Toni and Jason Will of Ogden, Janet and Josh Andrews of Duncombe, Caitlin Bray of Lehigh; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, two half brothers and two half sisters.

Mr. Bray was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a volunteer driver for RSVP in Webster City.
