Mildred (Frayne) Larson, age 84, of Ames and formerly of Williams, Blairsburg and Story City, died on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Israel Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams with burial in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams.

Mildred was born on February 20, 1920 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Schwartz) Lange. She was united in marriage to Maurice Frayne on January 21, 1937 in Alden, Iowa. After his death she married Carl "Don" Larson on November 10, 1975 in Alden. She was a former member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams and a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. She enjoyed volunteer work at Bethesda Lutheran Church, which included quilting and working in their Food Pantry.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Frayne and his wife, Patricia of Clear Lake and Ronald Frayne and his wife, Patricia of Garner; three daughters, Sharon Jones of Morenci, AZ, Gloria Wierda and her husband, Rollie of Ames, and Darlene Pruismann and her husband, Mike of Ames; 10 grandchildren, Angela Beier, Bryan Frayne, Brenda Smith, Rhonda Hanson, Kelly Armstrong, Rick Armstrong, Kelly Frayne, Josh Frayne, Kristin Eagen and Haley Kauffman; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and two step brothers.
