Howard L. (Fuzz) Nichols passed away May 26, 2004 at his home in Los Alamitos, Calif. after a lengthy illness. Burial was in Long Beach, Calif. He is survived by his wife Virginia (formerly Virginia Wehrheim), sons Phillip Nichols and family of Long Beach, Calif., and David Nichols and family of Simi Valley, Calif. Howard is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Howard was born in Wymore, Nebraska, March 28, 1913. He was sales manager at Beam Manufacturing Co. in Webster City, Iowa from 1937 to 1956. He became sales manager of Franklin Manufacturing Co. from 1956 to 1963 and was instrumental in the development of the automatic washing machine. In 1963 the family moved to Los Alamitos, California where he was co-owner of Coin Meter Washer Service.

His activities included race chairman of the Hydroplane Racing Club and helping invent the motor scooter called the "Doodle Bug".

He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
