Word has been received of the death of Alice M. Eikenberry, Ph. D of Pueblo, Colo., a former teacher in the Webster City School System.

Alice Eikenberry was born Jan. 28, 1906 and passed away at the age of 98 on May 25, 2004. Her body has been cremated. No funeral is planned. Left to mourn her death are her nephew's widow, Darlene Eikenberry of Urbandale, and great-nephews, Kevin, Neil and Mark, and great-niece Jill.

Dr. Eikenberry was a history and American Government teacher in the Webster City High School and Junior College during the 1930s and early 1940s. She left Webster City to teach in and near Knoxville, Ill. She was a Professor at the University of Illinois for a number of years and upon retirement moved to Pueblo, Colo.

She attended several class reunions in Webster City and last attended the year of 1998. Dr. Eikenberry had resided in Pueblo since the 1970s and was actively involved in many endeavors, such as writing, "Pueblo Plays, Player and Play Houses in the Gilded Age," for the Pueblo County Historical Society; active in politics serving as chairman of many committees, belonged to a Poetry Writers' group; and many other City of Pueblo functions, plus traveling extensively. She was a widely respected lady and admired by her former students and friends and was an inspiration to all.
