Francis M. Rose, 81, of Webster City, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Crestview Senior Living. Graveside Masonic rites will be conducted by Acacia Lodge #176 A.F. & A.M. at Graceland Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191.

Francis Marion Rose, son of Logan and Beula McElderry Rose was born March 27, 1923 at Kansas City, Missouri. He received his education in the Centerville Public School, graduating in 1942. He moved to Webster City in 1943 and served his funeral director residency. Later that year, he entered the U.S. Navy and served with the U.S. Marines as a medical corpsman in the 5th Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre of Action. After his discharge, he attended and graduated from the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science. He returned to Webster City and was employed at the McCauley-Chapman Funeral Home and the Chapman Furniture Store. On September 4, 1949 he married Patricia Ann Smith at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. In 1951, he started the Johnson Furniture Store until it was destroyed by fire in 1967. He then managed Home Furnishings until his retirement in 1988. Mrs. Rose died May 26, 1998, she had been employed at the Kendall Young Library for 40 years. Francis had resided at Crestview Senior Living since August of 2003.

He is survived by special friends, Judy Myers of Cedar Falls and Gerald Dingman of Webster City.

He was a member of the Acacia Lodge #176 an American Legion Post #191.

Memorials may be given to the Meals on Wheels Program.
