Harry Junior Asklund, 73, Duncombe, died Dec. 26, 2000 at the Veterans Hospital at Knoxville, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.

Harry Junior Asklund, son of Harry and Mary Woodruff Asklund, was born Feb. 26, 1927 at Ogden. He received his education in Ogden. In 1952, he joined the United States Marines where he was stationed in Korea. He was employed by Federal Chemical at Highview for several years, and in the 1960's was a painter for Franklin Manufacturing. In 1967, he was employed for Maudlin which became Geise Construction as a truck driver. He retired from Geise in 1987.

Survivors are his sister, Juanita Hilpipre, Webster City, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and LaVerne Asklund, and four sisters, Harlene Williams, Lilla Preoch, Ione Keeney and Janelle Keller.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 491 of Duncombe, and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
