Wayne Allen Hagge, 87, Sioux Center, formerly of Webster City, died Sunday, December 24, 2000 at the Sioux Center Community Health Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. Arnold Punt officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Township Cemetery in Calumet.

Wayne Allen Hagge, son of William Christian and Lydia Olive Rinehart Hagge, was born Nov. 12, 1913 at Beaver, Iowa. He graduated from Beaver High School. On August 9, 1936 he married Marie Mae Herridge. He was a merchant at his father's store in Beaver. They moved to Calumet where he was the Quaker Oats Elevator manager. Later he was the manager of the Cargill Elevator at Renwick, and then the Woolstock Elevator at Webster City. He retired in April of 1979.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Chapter 114, and the NW Iowa Coaches officials hall of fame. He was a referee for football and basketball games and was an umpire for baseball games. Mr. Hagge belonged to the Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City.

Survivors are his wife, Marie; daughter and son-in-law, Cathie and Les Punt of Sioux Center, son-in-law and wife, Dennis and Cathy Langel of Alton, four grandchildren, Michael and Pamela Punt of Minneapolis, Minn., Melissa Schelling, Sioux Center, Jennifer Langel of Alton, Kimberly and David Klock, Chandler, SD., six great-grandchildren, Kyle Punt, Trevor, Brady and Brookelyn Schelling, Cody Langel and Kaleb Klock; sister, Margorie Hennings of Ames, sister-in-law, Rosemary Hagge, Northville, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, William Charles, a daughter, Judith Kay Langel, a brother, Donald, and two brothers-in-law, Kermit Bullard and Norm Hennings.
